Role of Positron Emission Tomography Cardiac Perfusion Imaging in Clinical Management, Prognosis, and Risk Stratification of Cardiovascular Disease

چکیده
Coronary artery disease (CAD) is an important cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Perfusion abnormalities precede wall motion abnormalities, ECG changes, angina in the etiology CAD. myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) can detect alterations due to pathology at sites such as endothelium, microvasculature, epicardial coronary arteries. Thus, it measures universal burden ischemic heart (IHD). Nuclear medicine MPI noninvasive modality evaluate myocardium. Positron Emission Tomography (PET) single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT) with or without (CT) are 2 primary modalities. PET a highly sensitive inherent ability quantify absolute blood flow (MBF) variations MBF various stress agents. has immense potential change clinical management, prognosticate, risk stratify patients presenting preclinical Evidence shows that early detection followed by aggressive intervention for cardiovascular factors, reinstate perfusion. This may reduce mortality. We shall be reviewing impact CAD patients.

The effect of fasting on Positron Emission Tomography (PET) imaging
As a nuclear approach, Positron Emission Tomography (PET) is a functional imaging technique which is based on the detection of gamma ray pairs emitted by a positron-emitting radionuclide. There are certain limitations to this technique such as normal tissue uptake. Therefore, it has been recommended that patients prepare before scanning. Fasting for a short while before PET imaging is an exampl...
متن کاملThe role of myocardial perfusion SPECT in short-term cardiac prognosis of end-stage renal disease
Introduction: One of the most important causes of death in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD) and even after kidney transplantation is cardiovascular diseases. Thus, cardiac evaluation is of utmost importance in the management of these patients especially during preoperative work up before renal transplantation. The aim of present study is to evaluate the role of myoc...
متن کاملDetection of Alzheimer\\\\\\\'s Disease using Multitracer Positron Emission Tomography Imaging
Alzheimer's disease is characterized by impaired glucose metabolism and demonstration of amyloid plaques. Individual positron emission tomography tracers may reveal specific signs of pathology that is not readily apparent on inspection of another one. Combination of multitracer positron emission tomography imaging yields promising results. In this paper, 57 Alzheimer's disease neuroimaging ini...
متن کاملImaging Cellular Proliferation in Prostate Cancer with Positron Emission Tomography
Prostate cancer remains a major public health problem worldwide. Imaging plays an important role in the assessment of disease at all its clinical phases, including staging, restaging after definitive therapy, evaluation of therapy response, and prognostication. Positron emission tomography with a number of biologically targeted radiotracers has been demonstrated to have potential diagnostic and...
متن کاملCardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging and clinical performance of somatostatin receptor positron emission tomography in cardiac sarcoidosis
AIMS Cardiac affection constitutes a major limiting condition in systemic sarcoidosis. The primary objective of this study was to investigate the persistence rate of cardiac sarcoid involvement by cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging in patients diagnosed with cardiac sarcoidosis (CS). Moreover, we examined the additional insights into myocardial damage's characteristics gained by so...
